Students (m/f/d) for a thesison a Back Pressure Measurement System in the Air-Jet Weaving Process

Become part of an internationally successful industrial company and benefit from a strong community with over 8,800 colleagues worldwide. As a leading supplier of industrial machine needles, precision parts, fine tools as well as systems and services for the production and joining of textile surfaces,
Groz-Beckert combines creativity with a passion for textiles. Find your opportunity to join us and be infected by the fascination!

Are you looking for a place to write your thesis?

Do you want to apply and expand your theoretical knowledge in a practical setting? Would you also like to gain insights into a global company and the world of textiles? Then you’ve come to the right place, because Groz-Beckert offers you this opportunity—seize it!

Objective of the Thesis:

The objective of this thesis is to investigate and analyze a differential pressure measurement system for determining dynamic pressure on air wefts. Through measurements, experimental tests, and the creation of a 3D model, the influences of geometry, flow patterns, and pressure distribution on the measurement signal will be identified and evaluated. Based on the results, a physical understanding of the measurement setup will be developed, and approaches for calibrating and optimizing dynamic pressure measurement in the production process will be derived.

How you can support us:

  • Analysis of the existing differential pressure measurement system for determining dynamic pressure in air wefts
  • Documentation and structured measurement of the measurement frame and the relevant individual geometric components
  • Investigation of the geometric arrangement and interactions of the measurement elements within the measurement section
  • Identification and experimental evaluation of the influence of all factors (such as geometry and positioning) on the measured differential pressure signal
  • Fluid dynamics analysis of the measurement setup and classification of physical mechanisms
  • Development and analysis of a realistic 3D model of the measurement geometry, including the ground edge, to investigate flow patterns and pressure distribution
  • Development and validation of a theoretical model to describe the measurement setup and the relevant flow processes
  • Derivation of relationships between geometry, nozzle arrangement, flow, boundary conditions, and the measured dynamic pressure behavior
  • Identification of potential approaches for calibration and reproducible parameterization of the measurement
  • Documentation of the results and formulation of recommendations for use in the production process

What you should bring along:

  • Preferably currently pursuing a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, physics, textile engineering, mechatronics, production engineering, or a comparable technical field
  • Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of physics and engineering
  • Ideally, some knowledge of fluid mechanics, measurement technology, or experimental investigation techniques
  • Enjoyment of experimentally investigating complex relationships, critically evaluating measurement setups, and iteratively improving them
  • An inventive and inquisitive mindset, the ability to work independently, and a high degree of self-initiative
